Hebrews 12: 1-3 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.
This portion of Scripture is one of my favorite verses. It brings comfort to me knowing that whatever I may face, He understands. He is acquainted with my sorrows.
He knows our heartbreak. Psalm 56:8 You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?
He knows our brokenness. Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
He knows our shame. Romans 10:11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
He knows our fears. Psalm 34:4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.
He knows our suffering. 2 Corinthians 1:6 Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer.
He knows our humanness. He willingly suffered on the cross in our place so we could experience the fullness of grace. Philippians 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
God wants us to trust Him and rejoice in our salvation. We remember His sacrifice. He is worthy!
