We see injustice in our world and may wonder, “How can they get away with that?” The fact is – they won’t. God will demand justice as a result of sin. Believers are forgiven because our punishment was placed on Christ.

For the Lord loves justice, And does not forsake His saints; They are preserved forever, But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off. Psalm 37:28

Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; But the posterity of the righteous will be delivered. Proverbs 11:21

Not only have I personally experienced injustice in my life but so has my brother. It is unbelievable that we both were victims of gunshot wounds and survived. Different circumstances, different guns had been fired, but the same outcome, the attackers were never brought to justice – not in this life anyway.

Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Romans 12:19

In 1977, I suffered two gunshot wounds from M16 rifles when a rival gang opened fire on our biker clubhouse. The crippling bullets changed my life forever. My left arm had been blown apart and the bone in my leg was shattered. The gang came to kill and destroy, but the Lord was my shield that night. Read more in Love’s Bullet…

Five years ago, my brother, Marty left an appointment and was walking on his way to the parking lot. As he turned down the stairwell, he turned straight into a man that pointed a 9mm gun to his forehead. My brother grabbed the gun, but the bullet ripped through his shoulder and came out his back. Marty struggled to gain control of his attacker and his gun. He slipped and the attacker fired another shot into his side. The bullet exited at the top of his shoulder. He cried out, “Jesus Help Me!” When the ultimate act of evil was striking him down, he pulled out the ultimate offensive weapon, the Sword of the Spirit; the Word of God.

When Marty could no longer hold back his attacker, the man fired four more point-blank shots into his body, Marty laid on the ground half conscious and watched him get away. My brother had been shot six times. He fully understood what had happened to him and he didn’t think he was going to live.

Once in the emergency room, x-rays and scans imaged his body. The doctor told him, “There are no bullets in your body, but there are several entry and exit wounds that need to be repaired.” Marty did not quite comprehend what that all meant at the time. The doctor declared him a miracle. No bullets were found inside his body and internal bleeding was at a minimal. The wounds did not enter any internal organs.

Marty and I are living miracles. It is our desire that the words of our testimonies will point others to the glorious hope we have in Jesus!

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28

Yes, we live in a world full of evildoers. Thanks be to God for His protection in times of trouble! His faithfulness is our shield. Can you recall a time when you called out to the Lord for help?
