Are you walking in His Joy? Joy isn’t like happiness, which is based on emotions and dictated by circumstances. Biblical Joy is defined by more than a moment; it remains even in times of suffering.Joy is a state of mind and an orientation of the heart. It is a settled state of contentment, confidence, and hope. (Theopedia) Click To Tweet
I love Rick Warren’s definition; “It is the settled assurance that God is in control of all the details of my life, the quiet confidence that ultimately everything is going to be alright, and the determined choice to praise God in every situation.” This is the gift of Joy, the freedom of Peace.
Even in our trials, James writes that you should “Count it all Joy when you meet trials of various kinds.” ~ James 1:2With Joy, Jesus bore the hardship of dying on the cross for our salvation. Hebrews 12:2 ~ looking unto Jesus, the author, and finisher of our faith, who for the Joy that was set before Him endured the cross. Click To Tweet
Joy is one of the fruits of the Spirit. God in His grace brings Joy to our hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 14:17) My hope is you will choose Joy this holiday season and let go of those things that are beyond your control.
Thank you, Lord, for the precious gift of Joy!
