Our lives appear uncertain right now. Suddenly the coronavirus requires us and our families to remain in our homes. Sure, we are disappointed by cancellations and plans postponed. Routines are disrupted.
Arguments have broken out in grocery stores as people feel the need to hoard food and toilet paper. Reports from the media interject fear into any reasonable thoughts we might have.
In these troubled times, I find solace in my own backyard. Each spring I watch the bluebirds build their nests in the enclosed homes my husband built for them. I love to watch them diligently prepare for their little ones to come knowing there is safety in their new home. I watch as they hunt insects for their new family. They are fierce defenders of their territories, mates, and nests.
While watching the birds I am reminded of the great comforting words found in the book of Matthew.
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”(Matt 6:25-26 NKJV)
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
Thank you, Lord, for your provision and safety during these uncertain times. You are faithful!
