Aging Gracefully is a Beautiful Gift From God

Aging is a beautiful gift from God. What you may ask? If you need convincing read the Bible’s affirmation in 2 Corinthians 4:16-17

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”

When I was younger, I believed I would never live to see past the age of forty. Maybe this was due to the lifestyle I was living. Being a part of an outlaw biker gang did not provide a secure environment free from danger.

“With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:16

[bctt tweet=”Life is filled with trials and triumphs. My journey through emotional, spiritual, and physical trauma is a testimony of the power of God’s transforming love. It is vital to know the Father’s personal love for you. It is this knowledge that gives us the ability to move forward and keep the faith, no matter what life brings. ” username=”@Maureen_Hager”]

Orthopedic issues and challenges will most likely follow me the rest of my days on earth, but not for eternity. Heaven is my real home, my forever home. Jesus waits there for me.

Accepting Jesus as my Savior, transformed my life. Not only do I have eternal life with Him, but I also have His love, His joy, and His peace to walk in victory each day. I am enjoying His provision as He prepares the path before me. As I turn seventy on Friday, June 4th, I will stand on His promises and rejoice in the many blessings He has given to me.

There are many negative statistics about aging. Yes, I have had to adjust to a slower pace. That does not mean God is done with me. I hope I have many more years ahead to follow God’s plan for my life and I plan to allow God to use me to glorify His name. Every day is a precious gift.

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6

Thank you, Lord, even in old age, you will not forsake us when our strength is failing. (Psalm 71:9)
