Why is it so hard to forgive ourselves if God clearly forgives us? Don’t hold on to guilt, shame, and condemnation, God wants you to live in the freedom of a restored life in Him.
For years, when I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a broken woman in need of forgiveness. I carried the burden of shame, guilt, and condemnation from my past. Over and over again in my mind, I replayed the foolishness of prior decisions. I wish my past could have been different, but it wouldn’t change the choices I made.
We all have regrets about things we have done in the past. Sometimes our minds become a flood of ‘ if only’. We may suffer from guilty scars upon our hearts. Beware of falling into a pit of despair over the weight of your sin. Approaching God’s throne of grace in sincere humility is the first step. Now wholeheartedly turn away from the things that have broken God’s heart. Accept the miracle of His grace and receive what we don’t deserve -His forgiveness. We owe Him everything!
“Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” ~ Hebrews 10:17
