The Bible tells us to take every thought captive, but is this even possible? Yes, the Lord has provided us with the weapons of our warfare; the power of His Word, and His Holy Spirit to help us take captive our thoughts.

“Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.  (2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV)

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”               (Romans 12:2 NKJV)

We are hopeful that by overcoming sin in our thought life, we can become more like Christ. This inner work of God takes personal discipline and commitment. “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7 NKJV)

We must then strengthen ourselves for this warfare. Look for specific Scriptures that can help you get victory over difficult areas. Believe God is mighty to direct your thoughts.

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” (Philippians 4:8 NKJV)
