Seven Ways to Go From Brokenness to Wholeness

heart, bandaid

Putting a band-aid on a wounded heart will not be enough to restore what is broken. So, where do we start?

  1. Identify the wound and acknowledge your need for healing. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. ~ Psalm 34:18
  2. Allow yourself to feel the pain and grieve the losses. The Lord provides a time of mourning as part of the healing process. He will give you the grace you need. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. ~ Revelation 21:4
  3. The best way to heal a broken heart is to give God all the pieces. Surrender the places where pain resides and ask the Lord to show you how He sees the person who hurt you. Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. ~Ephesians 4:29
  4. God commands us to forgive, but it requires a conscious choice to do so. Living in the past can lead to a heart full of bitterness and guilt. Accept your circumstances and move forward trusting God with your future. For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. ~ Matthew 6:14
  5. Stop seeing yourself as a victim, and acknowledge yourself as a survivor and overcomer in Christ’s steadfast love. Wishing your past could have been different won’t change the circumstances. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. ~ Romans 8:28
  6.  It may seem as though the brokenness will last forever, but it won’t. Brokenness will turn into wholeness as you receive God’s amazing love. Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. ~ 2 Corinthians 4:16
  7. God’s ultimate goal for brokenness is spiritual restoration. God uses brokenness to reveal your need for Him. You will soon discover that only Jesus Christ can take your weakness and turn it into strength, hope, and honor. Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the Lord. ~ Psalm 31:24

Heart Notes ~

Recovering from the trauma of physical, emotional, and spiritual brokenness was a long journey that caused me at times to question whether I would ever reclaim wholeness again. All of my efforts to start a new life had failed miserably.

I learned that deliverance and restoration come to those who open their heart to the Redeemer and Savior, Jesus Christ. He longs for each of us to have a personal encounter with Him.

I am so grateful that the Lord had a better purpose and plan for me. He put a new desire in my heart to follow Him.

The truth is, brokenness is a reality for all of us. Each one of us can receive God’s redeeming love. His finished work on the cross secured our hope. There is hope in the valley; there is deliverance at the end of each trial, and there is joy in the journey. gods love never fails

Thank you, Lord, for your steadfast love towards your sons and daughters.
